Arashi Announces New Shows in May
By Kato Bookbird
Arashi launches a one week tour of Europe this May. The tour commences May 3 with a show organized by Pardon, To Tu at the Nowy Teatr in Warsaw, followed by Fylkingen in Stockholm where Arashi will team-up with special guests Anna Högberg and Goran Kajfeš for the first time. Next will be a two-city run in Italy, including stops at the Centro D'Arte in Padova and Area Sismica in Forlì where the band will also record their third album for the Austrian label Trost Records, due to release later this year. From there, the tour heads to Vienna, Austria and culminates with a concert at Blow Out in Oslo on May 9.
The Free Jazz Collective describes Arashi's second release as "a free jazz throwdown answer to Elvin Jones' classic Putting It Together. It gets my highest recommendation." and in an album review by Dalston Sound — Tim Owen writes — "This is a superb set, a rounded performance, satisfyingly intense and perfectly moderated. The trio’s sound has been beautifully captured, and the whole is nicely presented by Trost (the CD edition comes in a sturdy gatefold card sleeve, with art by Sagaki Keita). If you don’t know Sakata already, get in."
To get Semikujira now, head to the Trost Records Store, where CD and vinyl orders include a download of the complete album at checkout; You can also hear the album on Youtube, iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon.
